About Us
Who we are
We are a group determined to prevent this power line. We are residents and property owners in Loudoun County, Virginia, united to OPPOSE ALL proposed PATH electric power
across the county and surrounding areas. PATH has the right to cross over your land. Although they claim property owners will be compensated, there is no way to put a value on someone’s home, heritage or way of life. The natural beauty of Loduoun County, and especially Lovettsville, will forever be diminished. Towers of unprecedented height, over 100 feet, will unalterably change our landscape.
We need to alert the public and state legislators about the misinformation being broadcast by Allegheny Power. The Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline Project has not filed an application with the VA Public Service Commission yet, and is not expected to do so until March 2009.There have already been several public meetings and ads on television touting the environmental correctness of the proposal. Information on the project is available at www.pathtransmission.com. Many counties are affected by the proposed line and we need to have participants from each county to spur the grassroots effort that will be needed to convince legislators to oppose this line. Citizens Against PATH has already done excellent work in presenting the background information needed to understand the complex issues involved. Information is available here.
We specialize in getting information onto the Internet quickly and professionally. As a one stop provider of information you will find it easier than ever
to gain more knowledge about the proposed 765KV lines.

Boycott Brunswick RR Days! Oct 2 & 3 - Inexplicably, The City of Brunswick has allowed PATH to sponsor Brunswick's Railroad Days, Oct. 2 &3, 2010, along with Yellow Cab. Presumably this means a PATH information booth. The PATH logo already graces the RR Days handout. In any event, it's a slap in the face of Lovettsville as well as Brunswick's fellow Frederick County citizens of Kemptown, Md. We want to support our Maryland friends to the hilt - A boycott and perhaps some signs and so forth look to be in order.
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

WINCHESTER ---- SCC Public Input Meeting! August 3 @ 2 & 7 p.m. AND August 4 @ 10:00 a.m. - Public hearing on a proposed high voltage multistate transmission line. The State Corporation Commission plans an Aug. 3 hearing at John Handley High School in Winchester. AEP and Allegheny Energy are asking state regulators to approve the 765-kilovolt line. The utilities say the transmission line would address regional electrical reliability concerns. A public hearing shall be convened on August 3, 2009, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and reconvening at 7:00 p.m. and on August 4, 2009, beginning at 10:00 a.m. to receive the testimony of public witnesses participating as provided by 5 VAC 5-20-80 C of the Rules of Practice.

PURCELLVILLE ---- EIS Public Input Meeting! July 20 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. - The National Park Service, US Forest Service and the Corps of Engineers are now planning their joint environmental impact statement (EIS) on the PATH project. A public scoping meeting will be held on July 20th in Purcellville to help establish the scope of analysis and range of alternatives that this EIS will cover. This EIS is likely to be the only federal EIS on PATH unless FERC obtains jurisdicton. This is therefore our only opportunity to ensure that federal agencies analyze all of PATH's "significant impacts on the quality of the human envirtonment" and all reasonable alternatives to PATH, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act. Not surprisingly, however, these federal agencies prefer to address only the impacts and alternatives affecting their federal lands or (in the case of the Corps) the navigable waters under their jurisdiction. By essentially disregarding all the impacts and alternatives of concern to Loudoun citizens and our Board of Supervisors such limited scope disregards the purpose of the EIS and the intent of the National Environmental Policy Act and, we believe, the relevant case law.
Time: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Loudoun Valley High School Auditorium, 340 North Maple Avenue, Purcellville, Virginia.

SCC Hearing in Lovettsville! - Yes, there is an SCC hearing in Lovettsville! Save the date now November 19 at 7:00 pm at the Lovettsville Community Center, 57 E. Broad Way. The meeting will start at 6:00 pm for Intervenors to schedule witnesses and learn the process for testifying at the January hearing, this will be followed by the speaking portion starting at 7:00 pm. This is a continuation of the public hearings from the summer. People who have not previously spoken and are not intervenors now have an opportunity to make their opposition to PATH known to the SCC. Anyone who can attend, should, and anyone who knows someone who has not spoken should ask them to speak. It is an opportunity for citizens who didn't file as intervenors and didn't testify during the summer because they weren't here to make their voices heard. We now have EXPERT testimony collaborating what we have been saying all along there is no need, PATH does not add reliability, it has health impacts due to the EMF's and it will increase air pollution. Read the expert testimony and attack PATH with facts contradicting their propoganda. This is an opportunity to mass forces. It is the last oppurtunity for the local community and its elected leaders to speak out in front of the SCC to voice concerns and tell them that the evidentiary hearing in January 2010 should be held in Leesburg, and not in Richmond, where few can afford to attend.
Time: 6:00pm - For Interveners to schedule witnesses and learn the process for testifying at the January hearing
7:00pm - Speakers voicing their opinions and concerns about the PATH project.
Time: 6:00 pm & 7:00 pm
